Melbourne Sake Festival - Australia’s largest Japanese sake event
Share
In July 2024, Shiro Matcha participated in the “Melbourne Sake Festival,” held in Melbourne.
This festival is one of the most prominent Japanese cultural events in Australia, offering a rare opportunity to authentically experience Japanese food, sake, and culture. It attracts significant attention from local media and professionals in the food and beverage industry.
This year as well, thousands of visitors from both within and outside Melbourne gathered at the venue, which was filled with energy and excitement.
What We Shared at the Melbourne Sake Festival
Make Matcha Part of Your Life
At the festival, Shiro Matcha introduced our signature matcha lattes made with authentic Japanese matcha—sustainably grown at the foot of Mt. Fuji in Shizuoka.
Crafted to be smooth, balanced, and approachable for all palates, our matcha offers:
- A mellow, easy-to-enjoy taste with minimal bitterness
- Naturally rich sweetness and umami—no sugar or syrup needed
-
A vibrant green hue and fragrant aroma that capture the essence of Japanese tradition
We prepared each cup by hand, whisking the matcha fresh on-site. The experience drew crowds, sparked conversations, and created a line that didn’t stop all day.
Voices from Our Visitors
- “This matcha tastes completely different from anything I’ve had before! I didn’t expect it to be this delicious…”
- “It reminded me of the matcha I had in Japan.”
- “Where can I buy this? Is it available online?”
-
“I’d love to use it in my own café!”
These heartfelt reactions sparked many meaningful conversations—ranging from surprise and delight to concrete business inquiries.
Notably, we were especially touched by the strong connection felt by those who had experienced authentic Japanese flavors before.
A Joyful Moment of Reunion
At our booth, we had the pleasure of reconnecting with many people already familiar with Shiro Matcha.
- Customers who had visited our stores in Brisbane and the Gold Coast
-
People who had seen us on social media and were looking forward to our appearance in Melbourne
We felt a genuine sense that Shiro is no longer just a series of “dots,” but is beginning to connect with people as a meaningful “line.”
It was a heartwarming moment that reminded us of the community we’re building—one connection at a time.
Bringing Matcha to a Celebration of Japanese Culture
The Sake Festival is more than just a food and drink event.
As a comprehensive celebration of Japanese culture, craftsmanship, and spirit, it holds a special place among festivals in Australia.
Introducing matcha as part of that experience—and seeing so many people realize, "This too is a taste of Japan"—was deeply meaningful for us.
Thank You for Visiting | What’s Next
We’d like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth.
At Shiro Matcha, we’ll continue to share the experience of “tasting Japan” with the world—through future events and new store openings.
